Children’s Summer Holiday Club

From 26th to 30th July at the Holy Redeemer Streatham

This year our theme is Champion’s Challenge; come and take part in lots of fun, games and sports.  The holiday club is FREE and open to boys and girls aged 5-11. It will run from 10am to 12pm.

A multimedia sports quiz before the World Cup Final with speaker Graham Daniels of Christians in Sport.  A great event for anyone who loves sport of any kind. Enter a team of 6-8 people or come on your own. There will be prizes for the winning team. Burgers will be served at half time. And Graham will give a short talk on the Christian faith. All are welcome.

Speaker

Graham (known to all as ‘Danno’) played football for Cardiff City, Cambridge United and Cambridge City before managing Histon and Cambridge City. Danno currently plays football for Cambridge Veterans and manages his village football team, Hardwick, in the Cambridgeshire League. Danno joined the Christians in Sport staff team in 1989 and took over the role of General Director in 2002.

Travel

By Tube:

Turn right out of Tooting Broadway tube station. Continue along Mitcham Road, past McDonald’s and the Bingo hall on right-hand side of the road. Continue until you come to Somerfield supermarket on the right hand side of the road. Church Lane, where St. Nicholas church is visibly located, will be on your left.

By Train:

Turn right out of Tooting overland station; walk up Mitcham road (past a Co-op supermarket and the police station on your right). At ‘Amen Corner’ where there are traffic lights (Barclays bank on right, Saxon key cutters on left) follow the road round left and continue past St. Boniface church on right hand side of road. Somerfield supermarket is on the left side of the road. Church Lane – where St. Nicholas church is visibly located – is opposite (right-hand turning off Mitcham Road).

By Car

From the A24 (Tooting High Street), at the cross roads where Tooting Broadway tube is, turn down the A217 (Mitcham Road) and drive for about 3 minutes; turn left into church lane (opposite Somerfield) and St Nicholas is on the corner.

Parking

There is some parking in the St Nicholas’ church car park and plenty of free parking at 7.30pm in the surrounding residential streets.

Philip is visiting England from Australia.   His ministry has had a lasting impacts on thousands worldwide.  He was pastor of St Matthias Church in Australia and wrote the tract Two Ways to Live and study Just for Starters, which is used around the world.  He founded St Matthias media and is currently Dean of Sydney at St Andrew’s Cathedral and Director of the Sydney Diocesan Ministry Training and Development.  It is a great privilege to have him and his wife Helen visit our church. Phillip will be explaining a passage from the Bible.

We will be having a lovely greasy breakfast for blokes on Saturday 25th September, 9.30am. Our speaker is Phil Chadder, Chaplin at Wandsworth Prison. He will be speaking on ‘Life on the Inside’.

The evening is hosted by the Holy Redeemer Church. There will be a demonstration on the basic principles of rolling white icing and simple decoration ideas for children’s birthday cakes.  The practical will be followed by a short talk from Rachel Dowdy on ‘The best reason to celebrate”.  All are welcome.

We will examine some of the arguments currently used by the ‘new athesists’ and others against the resurrection of Jesus and weigh this against the historical evidence.  The talk will be followed by a time of questions.
