An evening with Dr David Wenham examining Philip Pullman’s new book on Jesus.
Sunday 9th May, 6.30pm
Chestnut Grove School, Balham
The eagerly anticipated new book by Philip Pullman is The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ. The children’s author, who is best know for trilogy The Dark Materials, has said,
“By the time the gospels were being written, Paul had already begun to transform the story of Jesus into something altogether new and extraordinary, and some of his version influenced what the gospel writers put in theirs”.
Did the apostle Paul change the message of Jesus? How has the church put together the Bible? Is there a difference between Jesus and Christ? Join us for an assessment of Pullman’s work by leading New Testament scholar, Dr David Wenham.
A talk followed by time for your questions. All are welcome. Free.
